Cruise Itinerary:

The Windstar Star Pride is docked in Miðbakki Cruise Terminal, nestled in Reykjavík’s Old Harbour. Ship embarkation begins at 1:00 pm. The latest flight arrival time into Keflavik International Airport (KEF) on day of embarkation is 12:00 pm. Airport transfers are not included but can be purchased from Windstar Cruises. It is approx. a one-hour drive from the airport to the Miðbakki Cruise Terminal.

Enjoy lunch onboard and then time to relax, unpack and get settled into your cabin. Join fellow travelers this evening for a President’s Council Welcome Reception followed by dinner.

Beautiful Grundarfjordur sits between dramatic mountain ranges and the sea. The road nearby crosses a lava field that is partially warm so snow does not always stick there. The main attraction of the area is Snæfellsjokull National Park known for its majestic glaciers, lava fields, waterfalls, caves, calderas, and striking basalt cliffs. The peninsula received the EarthCheck Sustainable Community Award in 2010, becoming the first area in Iceland to earn this distinction.

Optional Windstar shore excursions are available for purchase.

Small and easily walkable, Isafjordur is home to one of the largest fisheries in Iceland. However, the severe decline of the fishing industry has pushed the town to look beyond its traditional livelihood. Despite its modest size, Ísafjörður has a music school and has emerged as a hub for alternative music. Each year, it hosts a festival that provides a platform for local musicians as well as bands from across Iceland and around the world.

Optional Windstar shore excursions are available for purchase.

Akureyri is an important port and fishing center, prized for its rare ice-free harbor just below the Arctic Circle. Set at the end of Iceland’s longest fjord, which stretches 37 miles, the town is framed by snowcapped peaks that offer some of the country’s best skiing in winter. Highlights include Listagil, known as “Art Canyon,” filled with local galleries and craft shops, the striking hilltop church overlooking town, the Arctic Botanical Garden, and Hafnarstræti, the lively main shopping street. Akureyri is also an ideal base for riding an Icelandic horse or relaxing in the sky-blue waters of the nearby Mývatn Nature Baths.

Optional Windstar shore excursions are available for purchase.

Seyðisfjörður is an 11-mile-long, narrow, and scenic fjord surrounded by high mountains, ending at the charming town of Seydisfjordur. The town is known for its colorful wooden buildings and cascading waterfalls, some flowing right through the center. It is home to the Skálanes Nature Reserve, which supports a wide variety of wildlife, including more than 45 bird species. The first high-voltage electricity system in Iceland was established here in 1913 and remains in operation today. A popular hiking path begins in the town center, following the east bank of the Fjarðará River as it winds through town.

Optional Windstar shore excursions are available for purchase.

Later in the afternoon, enjoy Windstar’s complimentary Destination Discovery Event: Sagas & Songs at the Blue Church, offering an insider’s look at local culture. Held in Seydisfjordur’s iconic blue church at the end of Rainbow Street, this intimate experience features traditional music and storytelling by local performers, sharing Icelandic legends, folk songs, and maritime tales in a truly memorable setting.

Please note: This Destination Discovery Event: Sagas & Songs at the Blue Church has been scheduled in a way that will allow you to book and experience another shore excursion on the same day and you will not miss anything.

Visit Heimaey Island, the only inhabited island in the Westman archipelago, where a dramatic volcanic eruption in 1973 transformed the landscape and buried parts of the town beneath lava and ash—often compared to a modern-day Pompeii.

Optional Windstar shore excursions are available for purchase.

In the early evening, enjoy scenic cruising around Surtsey Island, which rose from the sea during volcanic eruptions in the 1960s and has been a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site since its formation. The area is renowned for its seabird life; optional Zodiac tours offer close-up views of towering sea cliffs populated by nesting seabirds, including the world’s largest colony of Atlantic puffins.

Join fellow travelers this evening for a President’s Council Farewell Reception followed by dinner.

Our voyage comes to an end today as we disembark the Windstar Star Pride in Reykjavik.
